We went camping with two other families over the weekend and got caught in another thunderstorm! The wind was blowing like crazy, I'm sure I felt the air mattress move a little, and the thunder and lightening were something else. Hmm, we've been camping as a family about 5 or 6 times and have had at least 3 thunderstorms. But the kids had a great time, both families have kids the same age and they enjoyed running and exploring in a little pack.
It was much worse here in Winnipeg. We got home on Sunday to find our fence blown down, the fenceposts are broken and the boards are all over. The pool is fine, and the gates between us and our neighbours house are still up although the fence is gone, so the pool is still contained in the yard(s). Sean is going to phone insurance this morning, but I think we'll just pay to have a new fence put up. Enough already! We spent last year fixing the other two fences and Sean is working on the basement now so we'll just get it done. The eavestrough guy just called and they will be here tomorrow, so the structural stuff will all be done around the house then and we can concentrate on more interesting stuff.
The kids were off to camp this morning. Delaney went to Montessori and it is fairy-tale camp this week - princesses and dragons, right up her alley! Next week they are doing vet camp, so she'll like that as well. Two of her friends were there at the door when we went in, so she was glad. Aidan and his friend were split into different groups but we talked to the counsellors and they were moved together, so he was happy. Connor found his pal and met another little boy right off, so he wasn't even looking at me as I walked away. I think they'll enjoy camp, even though another week at home would have been good before a break. Summer goes so fast! We'll have two weeks free, then we're camping again and Aidan's friend will be spending a few days with us and then Nana comes to visit.
I've been managing to get a fair amount of work on my research project done, and am hoping to catch up a lot these two weeks that the kids are at camp so that is going pretty well. Aidan is very excited about Nana coming for his birthday and Sean is going to take some time off, so I hope I'll be a bit ahead and we can take a few day trips here and there. If the weather is nice! Hard to know what will happen it's been so crazy!!
