Sorry! It has been a very busy couple of weeks what with birthdays (Delaney and Connor and Sean), hockey, speed skating and everything else that's needed doing!
Delaney had a great birthday party at the Y with her friends. They did yoga, had cake and then played on the bouncer and the indoor playground. They were very quiet and collected during yoga and pizza and cake and finally started behaving like 5/6 year olds on the bouncer. She was very happy with the party and got to have Ruby sleep over afterwards, so that was good.
Connor's party was at the batting cages and everyone escaped uninjured. They were actually not too badly behaved despite my worst fears and he had a pretty good time too. I bought him a soft blanket that he'd requested, but then when he saw Delaney's gifts he decided he wanted a radio like she'd gotten. I returned the blanket and bought him something similar, and then when I ran out to get loot bag stuff I found some that were animal-shaped (more like Delaney's) for $1.99! So I bought them for the loot bags and bought him a set of goalie equipment. He didn't like the goalie equipment so he and I went shopping and got him a soft blanket. As he said to me "Mom, you think too much!". Now I have to return everything else...
Connor also scored a couple of goals at the hockey tournament so that was good. We are coming to the end - 1 more tournament left I think. This week he has 2 practices but they interfere with a dental appointment and Tae Kwon Do (which he is taking as part of an after-school program) so we'll be missing them. And he plays next Saturday, but Delaney has her first appointment with the speech therapist (to help her with "g" and "k" sounds) so I'll miss that. Not too bad, it is finally supposed to get cold this week. That'll be it I hope, and we can start thinking about spring!
Aidan is busy with Kids of Steel and Speed Skating. He's also learning about the capitals of Canada and busy doing multiplication tables. I love the way they teach multiplication now, building on what you know rather than straight memorization! If you don't know 7x8, you ask yourself what 7x4 is and then double it. He's very good at it.
Delaney is happy with school. Apparently a little boy that she's been complaining about told her that he loved her. Then, when Connor saw him in the bathroom he told Connor to quit looking at him or he'd beat him up! He's in kindergarten! Delaney says she likes him too but can't let her friends know because they'll be mad at her. Oh my.
I took Sean out for a fancy dinner for his birthday. It is also my cousin Deanne's so we all went together and had an amazing dinner at Green Gates. I had rainbow trout with exotic mushrooms, butternut squash ravioli in roasted red pepper sauce and chocolate pate for dessert. We had a very nice time and it was a change from all the pizza we'd been eating for the birthdays!!
